Position Title: Information Specialist-Internship (Unpaid, Part-Time)
Position Description: We manage and staff the Hilo Information Center, providing Hele-On bus information, Shared-ride Taxi Coupons, and Visitor Information. The position will require developing an understanding of the Mass Transit system, and being able to give directions to and suggestions about various destinations both around Hilo, and around the Island. You need to be easy going, patient, and a quick-learner. At times the bus depot gets very busy, so being able to continue giving directions and instructions in a sometimes very busy environment is a must.

Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Big Island

Position Description: PCA Big Island is a volunteer organization working with youth sports organizations, companies, non-profit agencies, schools, and individuals and using workshops developed by the national non-profit Positive Coaching Alliance to create a safer and more enjoyable youth sports atmosphere here on the Big Island of Hawaii.

One of our basic long term needs is the collection and maintenance of a data base of all groups involved in youth sports on the island.  We need an intern to help us by researching similar data bases and technical support used for them in other localities, and by developing a data base for PCA Big Island.

The PCA Big Island intern will work at the County's Recreation Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation under the general direction of various members of the PCA Big Island board.  Direct supervision will be provided by the Recreation Division Administrator and his assignee.

Position Description: Assist with grant writing -- locate, evaluate, and help to write and compile grants for the entire agency.  Will include discussions with program directors to develop "the story" for the grant, research information for budgeting purposes, and provide draft narratives for the grant based on the research and discussions.


Will be helping with all aspects of grant writing, including post grant activities and tracking.
